Participation in the competitions

The competition in 2012 will be divided into two categories:

• A. mixed choirs, men's, women's, youth choirs
• B. children's choirs (up to the age of 16)

Choirs competing in A and B categories are obliged to perform a cappella three pieces of contemporary music, including one of a Polish composer. Three copies of competition pieces notes must be attached to the application form.

Performance time is free, although it cannot exceed 25 minutes.

Choirs perform their pieces during festival concerts. The order is given by conductors. Program or pieces order changes are allowed not later than 15 May 2012.

Competition pieces are to be sung a cappella.

Performance will be assessed by jury according to the following criteria:

• technical criteria:
  • difficulty level
  • performance accuracy
  • rhythmicity
  • intonation
  • phrase
• artistic criteria:
  • stylistic fidelity
  • musicality
  • new performance techniques
  • reconstructive suggestiveness

A competition will also be held in category:

• S. Musica Sacra - all kinds of choirs

Auditions for S category competition will be held at St. Peter Apostle Church in Miedzyzdroje. Choirs are obliged to perform at least three pieces of sacral music - time limit: up to 15 min. It is acceptable that S category (and only S category) choirs sing with accompaniment.
